My usual plan of dressing for the rain is to wear a short skirt or cropped pants, and bare legs, on the theory that my lower legs and feet will get soaked no matter what, and skin will dry off faster than cloth once I get to where I’m going. This morning I should have just skipped pants altogether.

The radio keeps running an ad for the Conservatives which begins with a supposedly average middle class ™ woman saying “It’s a good thing that Harper cut taxes,” before going on to worry the other guys will get in and raise taxes to pay for fripperies like education and social programs.

Thing is, she praises Harper’s “*good* thing” in a stilted, over-emphatic tone that suggests she’s afraid of being sent to the cornfield.

I can’t figure out if the actress is deliberately subverting the message, or if they just told her to talk that way because they think the voters will respond better.
