On Sunday my parents brought boxes of books and papers from my childhood. I've sorted through most of a box. These were my New Year's Resolutions, 1984:
1. I won't squeak.
2. I won't squeal.
3. I won't whimper.
4. I won't talk in a weird voice.
5. I'll tell my cat not to jump in the bathtub and stick her nose down the drain because she thinks it needs inspecting.
6. I won't talk about cats.
7. I won't read so much.
