Early Wednesday morning I dreamt I was watching a cheesy movie in which Jack Black and Jeremy Brett were cast as father and son. There was one good moment -- when the two of them, to create a distraction while the other characters escape, hijack a limo and tear around town, Black driving and Brett leaning out through the sunroof, a rose clutched between his teeth, grinning maniacally at passers-by.

Last night our blu-ray of Sherlock finally arrived. COINCIDENCE?!! Not to put down Sherlock, I just couldn't think of any other way to mention those two things in the same post.

Finally watching Sherlock S2 -- there was an extreme close-up where I thought "Hey, Benedict Cumberbatch has a coloboma in one eye," only I didn't think that exactly because I couldn't recall the word 'coloboma.' Someone else spotted it, but now that I look more closely, I think it's a heterochromia above the right pupil. Yeah, overthinking this.

green_trilobite spotted Alonzo Frame/George. No missing those ears.

Hey, isn't that Chipo Chung (Chantho, Fortune-teller) as a reporter? There are only a dozen actors in England, aren't there?

Just rewatched the Grenada versions of The Resident Patient (great intro sequence, plus Nicholas Clay,) and of The Red-Headed League, the inspiration for the Elton John song, 'Saturday Night's Alright for Stealing Bullion.'

After a couple of weeks off, I'm back to work on the webcomic, sending off the latest ep this morning. The story had (to my mind) been treading water for a time, but I'm hoping it's starting to build up another head of steam, with evidence popping up for at least two (separate?) nefarious goings-on.

We just rewatched a documentary on Sherlock Holmes that I think came packaged with something else - the documentary itself has a few extras, of which the best is the full conversation the host had with Stephen Fry, as opposed to the few minutes they used. Fry once did a Holmes/Charles Dickens crossover fanfic (he had to fudge the timeline a bit), and also talks about how much he likes The Seven-Per-Cent Solution.

Had a slew of Sherlock Holmes dreams last night, including one which was basically a gender-swapped version of 'The Copper Beeches,' and a steampunk one that I didn't get to see the end of, but which had a sequence where the heroine is kidnapped by someone with a skyhook and a zeppelin, and then escapes by seizing an inflatable raft and jumping while they're over a river, after telling the villain she trusts gravity more than she trusts him.

Later, she regroups with Holmes and Watson, and they come across a password-locked entrance which turns out to be very "speak friend and enter" -- as Holmes points out, it's a door - the logical thing to say is "open." He has to say it three times, though, because the first couple of times the door tries to trick him with false images of different rooms he can't enter.
