Things that please me about this pattern:

1. It's another one of those vintage-knitwear models who appears to be plotting something.

2. The pattern claims that the neckline is daring, but "without the least suspicion of the grotesque or vulgar."

3. The horizontal stripes remind me of Ernie's shirt on Sesame Street. But more low-cut. But, not, you know, grotesque or vulgar.

4. It's named after Banff.

Why do I feel like the model on the front of this 1940s fair isle pattern is one of those mild-mannered characters who impulsively commit a murder in the first reel and spend the rest of the picture guiltily waiting for karma to catch up with them?

Just look at him. He's wondering if he dug the grave in the back yard deep enough.
