Stuff and Moonshine

Missed the eclipse, but have been admiring the Big Giant Full Moon. Srsly, it looks like it’s only about a mile away. Spent much of the trip into work this morning trying to recall whether or not the association of lycanthropy with the moon began with the Universal wolfman pictures – most actual legends I know about transformation into animals are either more Ladyhawke than Lon Chaney Jr (i.e. associated with day/night rather than time of month) or involve witches/warlocks deliberately assuming animal form when it suits them (loups-garoux). All the lunar stuff I can think of is either Yay! Fertility! or Yay! Party! We can stay up late because there’s enough light to see!
