Yuletide Letter 2023
Oct. 14th, 2023 08:53 amDear Yule Writer—
Thanks for volunteering to write a fic for me. I am moon_custafer on AO3 as I am here.
General likes: Hurt-comfort. Conversation. Period-specific details. Ghosts or supernatural. Found family. Casefic or plotfic. I don’t mind explicit sex but I’m usually indifferent to it. OTOH kissing or touching hands, foreheads, stroking hair, etc, are great, as are descriptions of the characters’ appearance.
General DNWs: AUs that deviate from canon to the point of being a completely different premise/setting, i.e. high-school/coffee-shop/ABO dynamics.
My requests:
Snarkout Boys
What do I love about it?: Baconburg is apparently an only-slightly exaggerated version of Chicago of Pinkwater’s youth, and most of the movies screening at the Snark Theater are real (I’m pretty sure Invasion of the Bageloids is made-up, but Attack of the Mayan Mummy is real). The kids are a likeable bunch of oddball teens who’ve found each other via shared interests, and the adventure is a bit more coherent than usual for a Pinkwater book, even if it’s still just an excuse for the characters to explore the world of soap-box public speakers, greasy spoons, and famous detectives who like to cosplay Sherlock Holmes.
Requests: Further adventures. Friendship. Exploration of the characters’ world.
Monty Python’s Flying Circus— “The Cycling Tour”
Palin and Jones always have good chemistry, and their characters here are particularly endearing. Pither is decidedly autism-coded—so is pre-accident Gulliver, to a lesser extent, and they almost immediately click.
Requests: Pither/Gulliver or Pither & Gulliver. Given the sadness of losing Terry Jones a few years back, I’d rather like to see Pither and Gulliver as old men both alive and well in the present day, and still having conversations about cycling and picnic food safety. Alternately/also— how much does Gulliver remember of their original adventure and his other personalities?
The Who (band) RPF
I’ve recently been filling some of the gaps in my knowledge of pop music, and became fascinated by these very talented, very messed-up guys.
Requests: John Entwistle and Keith Moon both seem to have been the kind of personalities who could build themselves a Hell in Heaven, but maybe also vice-versa. Would like a story about either of them, or one in which they bring out the best and/or worst in each other. Song allusions or songfic would also be welcome.
