Exciting news in type 1 (juvenile) diabetes research, following work at Sick Kids hospital in Toronto and at the University of Calgary. Essentially they've found that type 1 is not just caused by a faulty immune system, but is related to the nervous system as well - this means they will soon be able to predict who will get it, based on pain response abnormalities, and furthermore they may have found a way to cure it.
