theengineer & David celebrated their birthday on the weekend with an afternoon of Hong Kong action flicks; green_trilobite & I arrived in time for You Shoot, I Shoot, a hilarious black comedy of hitmen and filmmakers; Running Out of Time - Andy Lao as a mysterious dying bank robber - or is he really up to something else?; and Infernal Affairs, the original of The Departed.
I'd brought theengineer some British Museum/National Gallery guidebooks from the UC booksale, as well as a Louvre guide I was keeping for myself. At some point Drew asked if anyone else thought a character in one of the movies (I forget which) looked like anonymous Don; no one else did, but I showed everyone Charles VII from the Louvre guidebook. Only green_trilobite really agreed with me, though.
