Don't know if anyone here is into Jane Siberry, but it's been going around LJ: she's releasing free mp3s of most of her oeuvre. Also she's changed her name to Issa, though no one seems to know if that's a reference to the excellent haiku-writing guy. Follow the links to check both artists out.

Note- well checking out the Issa site, I noticed the guy who runs it has also written a number of novels, one of which, Haiku Wars, is narrated by a boddhisatva currently incarnated as a pet ferret belonging to a college prof in New Orleans. Looks good - you can read the opening here.

I don't know if she is crazy, but if she really wanted to become "pure" why doesn't she just take a real job - a job in a store or something, then she would be really grateful for the postition she is in. I think its quite insulting too her giving her possessions away. It is only middle class people from wealthy backgrounds who make grand gestures like that. What about people who lose their homes and possessions through no fault of their own? Why doesn't she just help out those people?
