Thursday
* Snakes on a Zale
Zale came to First Thursday bearing a photo he'd had taken at a booth that had been doing some (unnecessary at this point) publicity for the film. Apparently he was inveigled in by women in skimpy stewardess outfits, and photo'd on a set-up of airline seats with an albino Burmese python draped around his shoulders. There were some smaller snakes in the photo but I think they were rubber.
* Wanna See my Picture on the Cover/ Wanna Buy Five Copies for my Mother
Rob was on the cover of Analog this month. A guy came up and said hi because he recognized him from the cover, which was weird because we'd been looking at the guy who recognized Rob, and whispering "doesn't he look like the guy from The Forty-Year-Old Virgin?" We thought he was coming up to ask us why we were staring.
* Scary Number of Cops
on Yonge Street; lining it practically. We thought it might be because Caribana started the next day and they thought there might be trouble from the tourists. It was all a trifle creepy, especially the ten or so cops standing around a van that only had four guys in it. Diid they think it was going to transform into a robot or something?
Friday
* New Diner
Don brought the widow of an old friend of his, as he thought we might cheer her up. I think she found us confusing but likeable.
Saturday
* Overheard
Two old guys at a bus stop, mystically interpreting plane contrails:
"No, it was a cross, now it's an alpha..."
* Digitally-painted a new pinup
posted here.
Sunday
* Bathurst Station
Saw a guy who looked uncannily like Jason Mewes, except he was wearing a red tuque instead of a black one, and he wasn't swearing. No sign of Silent Bob, though.
* New Swim Trunks
for green_trilobite to wear on holiday next week.
Monday (Simcoe Day)
* Hellboy, the Animated Series
Watched the San Diego Con's sneak preview clip, posted to Youtube. Interesting style, a mix of Mignola and Glenn Murakami.
* Lakeshore Park
Took a short walk with green_trilobite, saw a heron.
