Found some good stuff at the thrift store on Saturday, including a minidress that looks as though it was designed by Jack Kirby (big, bold geometric print in orange, pink, magenta and bright blue; found a picture on Poshmark of an identical one that they're asking more for than what I paid).

You’re right—that dress looks for all the world like Kirby Krackle translated into polyester, and I can easily envision it on Beautiful Dreamer or Crystal.

I tend to prefer old-school Banana Republic myself, back when they were issuing sepia-toned catalogs full of rambling tall tales and foreign military surplus: James Bama rather than Jack Kirby:

I think I dimly remember that era. Yeah, they're now the upscale end of The Gap/Old Navy.

(My mother was terribly disappointed the first time she visited an Old Navy store -- from the name she'd been expecting something much more Ralph Lauren-esque)

I feel your mother’s pain. Having read the old Banana Republic catalogs and being at the peak of my dieselpunk phase, I was delighted to learn that a store had opened in an upscale shopping center just across the county line. Unfortunately, it was only then that I learned that the format change had taken place some decades ago: the cowboy dusters, safari vests, and Indy fedoras were no more.
