I am delighted by this Twitter thread of people who have just discovered the paintings of Alex Colville and are amazed by their resemblance to video-game graphics from 12-15 years ago.

I was going to write, "Then the Precisionists are going to blow their minds," but in the process of searching for one of his paintings I discovered that Colville's official site name-checks the Precisionists on the main page, which makes it no longer funny. In any case, while some of his art is definitely of a style that doesn't do much for me, some I really like.

(Insofar as I know Colville's work well enough to have a favorite, Dog and Priest is it.)
