moon_custafer: Kate Beaton's Gatsby comics (jazz age)
A few weeks back I tried bleaching and colouring my hair turquoise (allegedly grey, but I knew the colour was likely going to be brighter than it looked on the box and correctly guessed it would be turquoise). Unfortunately I screwed up the bleaching part so the turquoise came out uneven. Re-did the bleaching today, and it’s now mostly blonde, though I still have trouble getting the bleach to soak through to the roots so it already has visibly darker roots. Will add the turquoise later but have decided to keep it blonde for a few days because why not.

Also, the waiting period for both the bleach and the dye to work is about an hour each, which means I need to find stuff to watch or read while I wait, and the online copy of Lured (1947) I tried watching this morning while I bleached had a soundtrack that got increasingly out-of-sync with the visuals, until about halfway through the movie I gave up because no matter how good the script and performances (and they were quite good*), they didn’t work when I had to listen to the dialogue and then wait twenty seconds to see the facial expression that had accompanied it.

Sending out approximately 3-4 job applications per day. Had to give up on one because the application process involved going to the company website, then following their link to a third-party website that would not accept my resume file no matter how many times I tried uploading it or which format I used, and which claimed I could paste the resume text into a field but the form was still set up so that the file upload was mandatory, and as noted it wouldn’t accept my file upload. I did manage to get through an application process that required me to make a video of myself describing my job skills, and I guess I can reuse the video if required again.

Sewed two more masks (these ones are three layers of fabric as is now recommended).

ETA— Also Bea will now allow me to hold her for about a five-second count before she starts squirming and I have to put her down, which is progress from last year.

My attitude on encountering that sort of nonsense, even when I'm getting most desperate, has been that clearly this company doesn't care enough to be good to work for.
