moon_custafer: Doc throwing side-eye (sidelong)
Andrew and I had some kind of ‘flu in back in February; and he had a resurgence of symptoms last Friday, about a week after visiting out local clinic to get an earache checked out, so I stayed home with him. Now he’s mildly tight-chested and achy, but the thing is, he’s like that most of the time anyway, and he also stays home most of the time anyway, so I feel taking him out to get tested wouldn’t change anything either way except to tire him out and risk his exposure to other people.

I’ve been wondering if, despite being asymptomatic, I ought to present myself for testing as a proxy for Andrew, but a read-through of the Ontario health websites suggests they don’t want me to come in unless I’ve got symptoms, have recently been abroad, or live with someone who’s definitely infected, so I suspect the right call here is to hold off, frustrating as it feels to do nothing.

Bravery Through Boredom, as [personal profile] eye_of_a_cat  recently put it.

We need a good Latin translation for that. Or maybe Anishnabemowin, instead of Latin?

I love it. Can we do this?

Asking around on Facebook. Hopefully, my question is taken seriously and not as an insult.

You could always call and ask. Given the frequency of asymptomatic transmission, it would be stupid not to test you, but I do understand that stupidity is ruling this crisis.

I'm not sure if it is positive or negative - especially given we are in different countries - if I say that you have just described completely the symptoms of the annoying recurring flu I have had this winter (it recurred twice). So if it's that, then it definitely isn't coronavirus because I had symptoms well before coronavirus was in the UK and even if I had it mildly, I'd have been spreading it since the second week of Jan. But even if it is just that it is still worrying at the moment.
