I have now broken 40,000 words. My ambition is to have a complete first draft by Sunday; I think it might be doable— at this point it’s largely a matter of pulling all the threads together to make an ending.

How long is the end goal?

Ideally, 50,000– I doubt the story will sustain much longer than that— but it may come a little under.

It was when Walter was trying to get his driver's license renewed.

Oh ok, that was the most recent bit I posted. It was from about halfway through the novel, and yeah, at that point Walt’s whole life is mostly unanswered questions. They are eventually answered, kinda, in one single cruel revelation.

He really is, but he also *seems* and that's both a tactical advantage and part of his problem.
