The BBC is rebooting Worzel Gummidge with Mackenzie Crook to write and direct as well as star.
I never saw much of the originals starring Jon Pertwee, but I gather they were part of the genre of British kids’ shows that were like a benign version of the 1970s folk-horror that’s been recently making a comeback, so a new version makes sense. Also the linked article has a first-look at Crook in a wonderful makeup that makes it seem as though his head’s been carved from a turnip.
Maybe some of his tortoises will make a guest appearance.
