Yesterday we went to the It’s Alive! exhibit at the ROM.  Vintage Horror/SF lithographed movie posters mainly, in better shape than I’ve ever seen them— the inks were still really vivid. Also some original art, and two waxworks (well, probably silicon nowadays) of Lugosi and Karloff, the former in his costume from White Zombie (1932), the latter in the costume from The Black Cat (1934). I especially liked being able to see the latter in real life. This it in the movie:

It’s hard to find a good shot of it, as Karloff wears a dressing gown overtop in most scenes. It’s made of black grosgrain. Also, Karloff really wasn’t all that big.
Later, I dug up a pulp-pastiche story I wrote six or so years ago, polished it a bit, and posted it on AO3 under “Fandom - Original.” Features implied violence, period-typical attitudes, but also Self-rescuing Heroine: https://archiveofourown.org/works/20101624

Oooh, awesome! Maybe I should take my film kids there on a field trip.

That sounds fantastic.

That exhibit sounds amazing, I wonder if there's ever anything similar over here. I shall have to look into it. Glad you enjoyed
