I spent much of the Easter weekend reading Cory Doctorow's Somebody Comes to Town, Somebody Leaves Town. Probably blog about it later - right now I'm still mulling it over in my head. In the meantime, however, I'm pleased to discover that I'm not the only reader left with an urge to create fan-art, even if I picture the characters differently.
Also, green_trilobite did an ad last Tuesday for a new tv channel, Treasure HD - apparently it's all shows about collecting stuff, and someone at Silver Snail introduced him to the producer as a Real Collector. He brought in a few of his pulp mags, wisely refused to take them out of their bags or let anybody else touch them, and pleased the crew with his professionalism - they only needed to do one retake and that wasn't his fault. Then he went home to wash his face because as he told me when he called me at work, "they'd made me up like a two-dollar whore."
