So I was listening to music on my headphones on my way home from work, like you do; but when I got on the subway I had to stop, because a guy a few seats over was listening to his music without headphones at all, and my earbuds aren’t noise-cancelling, so his music was drowning out mine even with mine poured directly into my ears. It wasn’t even like it was bad music, it’s just that he wasn’t allowing anyone the option of not listening to it.
“Hey, want some headphones, bro?” asked another guy, but he got no response. I wasn’t going to say anything, because I was too tired to argue. Then a woman came up to the guy and started asking him enthusiastically what the artist’s name was, and going on for, like, five minutes about how much she enjoyed it, and then she went off on a tangent about Tupac Shakur and stuff.
And I'm still not sure whether she was completely sincere, or whether it was an attempt to pull some reverse psychology on him: “Maybe a middle-aged white woman loudly saying how much she loves the ‘catchy tune’ you’re listening to will make you think twice next time you decide to play it really loud in public.”
Another TTC mini-drama, I guess.
