Temperature creeping up a bit which is welcome. The headache that began Friday afternoon less so— it takes a couple of Mylan a day to keep it at bay, and luckily my remaining supply lasted until it was over, but I hope I don’t get another until at least mid-February when I can get the prescription refilled without question.
Tumblr is having another log-off protest— this one I only found out about the other day, but it’s supposed to be for a week. Tediously, I keep logging on, remembering I’m not supposed to be there, and leaving again.
We had lunch yesterday at the home of cousins I see every couple of years, along with my parents, brother, aunt and uncle, and another cousin. I’d been going to try making aquafaba meringues to bring (one cousin is vegan and my brother has a wheat-gluten sensitivity) but in the end I just brought the avocado chocolate mousse I’ve made before for such occasions. At least it continues to be well-received; one of the non-vegan cousins asked if there was amaretto in it (there isn’t— I think she must have been tasting the combination of coconut cream and vanilla extract.)
Posted another chapter of 1983 today — this makes two weeks in a row I’ve posted chapters for the same fic, but they’ve been fairly short chapters. In this instalment, the negotiations between Elena Makropulos and Miriam Blaylock continue, Hauk-Sendorf feels bad about various things, and Lohmann and Skuld are getting impatient.

What is the occasion of the Tumblr protest? Has something else changed?

Date: 2019-02-04 12:30 pm (UTC)From:I’m always a little worried about serving it, because I actually can taste the avocado a bit, but everyone else seems to like it. Or their very polite. OTOH Andrew got into the leftover portion the next day while I was out of the house and was on a sugar rush for several hours, and he’s not one to mince his words if he doesn’t like the taste of something.

I think it’s just to keep up the pressure — there was a one-day boycott back in February, and people have been using the review section for the Tumblr app to leave complaints. AFAIK all Tumblr’s done in the past week is to ignore all user complaints and instead change the site’s background colour and boast about how this will improve the experience for low-vision users (apparently it does help some people, but the increased contrast makes it worse for others, and an adjustable background colour is not the option they went for. Meanwhile their new censorship policy doesn5 seem to have affected the pornbots or the nazis.)

Ah! The banning plastic straws solution!

Of course not.

Date: 2019-02-04 09:11 am (UTC)From:Well, this one doesn't seem to be very well organised - I had no idea! Not that I do very much, but I'm not inclined to stop unless I know what I'm protesting about anyway.
