TIL the sandals I began seeing this summer, which look like fuzzy bedroom mules from an old sitcom, are called “fur slides.” I sort of like them – they look like the kind of thing Barbara Stanwyck’s character from Double Indemnity would wear in a contemporary remake.

Also, my newsfeed just described Chris Hemsworth as "post-hunk" and "a new kind of leading man," whereas I would argue that's he's the new Cary Grant, in that both stars have a persona where they play their good looks as a kind of joke, so as not to be insufferable.

Yeah I think they probably mean how ironic he is about being big and gorgeous, like when he was doing pull-ups with one arm but really standing on the floor, and whatever. Altho Grant was much more urbane and slick. Hemsworth is almost dangerously charming.

Does this make Chris Evans Jimmy Stewart? RDJ is clearly Clark Gable.

I haven't seen those shoes, but if I did see someone wearing them, my automatic reaction would be "Why did she go out in her bedroom slippers?" It's a jarring look, and not in a good way.

Boudoir slippers IIRC! Altho I think those always had a pretty high heel.

Yeah, boudoir slippers are a variant of FMs and have stiletto heels. The shoes in that linked post... I was just looking at almost exactly the same thing being sold as bedroom slippers in a clothing catalog.

I got totally distracted by this person's outfit. Altho I would wear black jeans and regular black shoes.

Those look cute, but my sensory issues mean they would tickle me to death, and they'd also last about five minutes around my cats. And I live in a big city -- what if you step in a puddle? Or something unsavoury?

Ah, I've been seeing those a lot here as well, and have been very confused by them, precisely because they do look like slippers.
