Except for a couple of gender changes, it’s basically the plot of the movie, as seen from Elwell’s PoV; also his grudge against Praetorius is due to Praetorius having rebuffed his advances when they first met. I can’t quite picture Dr. Rodney “You overestimate us both” Elwell as a suave, manipulative Lothario, but YMMV.
