Friday Party Report

Someone decided the activity at our company holiday party would be curling, despite (or because) no one at the company actually curls. There’s like, one guy who curled a bit as a teen. I spent much of the past weekend muttering to myself that people look at curling on tv, notice that many of the players aren’t particularly young, and conclude it must be easy; and that I don’t believe this for a moment, and suspect the whole thing is a trap set by the Scots after seeing that some people actually enjoy golf and deciding they need to take the joke further next time.

So anyway, I’m unsurprisingly terrible at the sport, and kept falling over, but somehow I also was the only person on my team to get the rock in the house *at all*, and I did so twice. So I won a bottle of Bailey’s and possibly a reputation as a curling shark who’s just faking the ineptitude.


Unfortunately there was a damper put on the proceedings when our CEO got a text from his mother that a couple in Forest Hill, whom they knew slightly, had been found dead under circumstances the police haven’t described yet but are calling “suspicious.” I’ve tried following the news but so far there’s no real info and a lot of the comments are either wild speculation or nazis/anti-pharma types rejoicing. So, ugh that part.
