...that Mackenzie Crook (Raggedi in Pirates of the Carribean) is also a writer and director, and has made three seasons of a show called The Detectorists, in which he and Toby Jones are metal-detector enthusiasts in rural England. It keeps getting described as a sitcom, but apparently it’s more of a wistful comedy-drama. I looked at the end of the S2 finale on Youtube — no spoilers, but I’m inclined to agree with the fan who compared the tone to that of a Powell & Pressburger film.
