Waiting for a bus after seeing Wonder Woman with Andrew and the Diners. Andrew already wants to see it again on Sunday. I knew Gadot would be note-perfect, but I liked Pine as Steve Trevor much better than as Kirk; and the supporting cast were all fabulous, especially David Thespis, and Elena Anaya who seems to have been put there as a fic prompt for handful_ofdust -- she bears some resemblance to Rosa Steinberg of A Scent of New-Mown Hay. There's a great scene about three-quarters in, where Steve attempts to seduce her, and nearly succeeds, because he's clearly done enough research to know how to appeal to a genius chemist who's also fundamentally a pyromaniac.

Elena Anaya who seems to have been put there as a fic prompt for handful_ofdust -- she bears some resemblance to Rosa Steinberg of A Scent of New-Mown Hay.

Maybe I am just poorly read in Wonder Woman continuity, but I was definitely not expecting that.

Well, she's a chemist nicknamed "Dr. Poison" who's come up with an even nastier form of mustard gas, but she's a small, quiet woman with madly intense eyes. Also a half-mask loosely based on the "tin noses" of the time (I suspect hers is meant to be her own invention, as it doesn't quite look like metal -- some kind of celluloid or early Bakelite maybe -- and it doesn't visibly attach in any place but rather seems to adhere to the scarred skin below.)

There've been several iterations of Dr. Poison in the comics, the oldest of them dating back to Sensation Comics # 2. So she's been around almost as long as Diana and Steve themselves.
