Last night's dreams were about geckos. Small flying geckos, in my apartment. They were harmless, as far as I could tell, but I couldn't figure out where they were coming from.

Anyway, I've finished another dress. This is a modification of the 1930s self-draft nightgown pattern that I first used with the purple dress. I changed the neckline and once again added patch pockets.

Tat's a really nice dress!

there are small flying lizards, so small flying geckos isn't that far of a stretch.

They didn't have wings as such, they were able to hover by folding and unfolding their rib cages very rapidly, which even in the dream seemed slightly improbable, though I think there are some RL lizards which can glide by flattening their ribs. Or maybe I'm thinking of the gliding snakes.

Heh--I wrote my comment asking about wings without having read your remark here. That's cool about being able to fly by flattening out your ribs!

What did their wings look like, or weren't they very visible? You look great in the dress, which also looks great. And thinking of your love of sewing, I was wondering if you knew about this tumblr. (http://mccallspatternbehavior.tumblr.com) (Most likely you do--possibly you're the person who pointed it out to me)

I hadn't seen that tumblr, actually. Reminds me a bit of Dress A Day's pattern-story entries.

Flying Lizards

A gecko really scared me once. I was really wasted one day in Taiwan after a bout of factory-direct Asian Flu, and staggered into the office really early in the morning. I flopped down into the swivel office chair and, slouching down until I was facing the ceiling, realised that the effort of getting there had left me totally spent. Perhaps so much so that I was seeing a cerise lizard crawling across my field of vision!

Fortunately someone else came in and started to indigently shoo it outside so I was able to exclaim, with great relief, "Oh, so you can see it too!"

Funny how even though we know lizards come in different colours and can even change, anything other than green or brown just seems implausible.
