Dave Malki and friends try to come up with olympic narratives more interesting than the usual "athlete worked hard, their friends, family and country are rooting for them." I think "gold medal shortage on home world" and "presidentchancellorking of micronation must do every event himself," if combined, more or less form the plot of the movie "Million Dollar Legs."

Also "curling contest for immortal soul" actually *is* the plot of "The Black Bonspiel of Wullie MacCrimmon."

My favourite such contest was the Lawn Darts game with Death in "Flaming Carrot" comics. Lawn Darts, aka "Jarts" is always sort of a game with death but in this case it was with the anthropomorphic Grim Reaper who was on a bender in this issue.

Curling's a big deal in Wisconsin, and yet nobody I talk to has heard of The Black Bonspiel of Wullie MacCrimmon. I think at least one person simply though I was yanking their chain.

It's by W.O. Mitchell, so I suspect it's only known in Canada, if at all.
