I didn’t think we’d make it out the CZP’s Very Special Krampus Special last night, but when I got home Andrew announced he’d resolved the problems with his iPad and he wanted to celebrate, back pains be damned, so we took a cap downtown. It was a typical Chizine evening: Kari played her ukulele and sang about entrails; there was a story about succubi attacking a hockey-team fundraiser, and one about working in a Santa hatchery. Erik Mohr cavorted in a devil mask and a suit, half Krampus and half Austin Powers; Jason Taniguchi had written a Rob-Ford-themed parody of the Grinch; lounge lizards crooned “Cool Yule;” Lianna K. judged an “Ugliest Holiday Sweater” contest, won by a guy in a non-holiday themed but hideous cowboy sweater with tassels on it. My cocktail had a candy-cane swizzle stick that dissolved in the alcohol and turned it a muddy colour. Festive stuff. A woman dressed as Kaylee from Firefly performed an aerial act – that wasn’t seasonal either, but she was pretty good.
ETA: It was all sort of like this.
