I've spent better nights, but Andrew and I survived without power in the apartment. More worrisome was that the water was off (we're on the 23rd floor), but we confirmed this morning that it's working on the lower levels so if worst comes to worst, the showers in the gym downstairs can be used. I'm hoping, though, that the power will be back on by the time I get home tonight. How's everyone else managing?

Due to all of the power interruptions during renovations here I'm Fully Prepared! I have two big frozen plastic bags of water in my freezer which cools the rest of the fridge via vents in the bottom. I got updates on 680 news on my big boom box radio and forwarded some of the more interesting weather forecasts by text message to those friends whose cell phones are operating (hint-hint). I cracked open my case of candles and candlestick holders to study Go and read "Canterbury Tales" by candlelight.http://home.ca.inter.net/~spectrum/InsectGod.jpg (http://home.ca.inter.net/~spectrum/InsectGod.jpg) I note that, for the first time in 5 years, the emergency lights in my building actually came on!

Little Dee gave up waiting for the subways or buses to get her out of downtown around 7 pm, walked towards home for two hours in the rain and then hitchhiked the rest of the way. The Kitties were unimpressed with her paltry excuses for late din-dins!

Kristine was up at Dorothy's where, in the absence of transit, I presume she spent the night.

It looked terrifying on the news, I'm glad you're OK!

According to dispatches from Andrew's iPad, the power is still off as of a couple of hours ago.

At least we were on the ground floor, but the emergency lights in the building cut out the first night. Wasn't that a fun few days?
