The California legislature has passed a same-sex marriage bill similar to ours, albeit by a slim margin. As I understand it, it now has to get by Schwartznegger - come on Arnie, do the right thing!

Damn! So he's vetoed it, because it should be decided by the courts instead of the legislature....thus reversing the standard Republican argument about "activist judges.."

Granted he has been respectable when it comes to the environment, I can’t take that away from him. But I have sat here and watched our public schools go even farther down the toilet and education is just one of the interesting areas of funding he figures isn’t important enough to fully fund. One has to admire his boldness though, I am glad he was checked on his taking away of the states part in police/firefighter/teacher pensions. I can’t imagine, or at least I would like not to, that gay marriages will be illegal much longer here, but one never knows.
