I was listening to the song It's My Life, and found myself hearing the line "Like Frankie said, 'I Did It My Way' " as "Like Frankenstein, I did it my way." Which I guess also makes sense.
Tonight at my in-laws', I was explaining how bad that musical of Jekyll & Hyde was and got momentarily side-tracked into wondering out loud why Jekyll apparently needed a "Frankenstein machine" to complete a process that appeared to be mainly chemical in nature. Steve Snr. then suggested that it was a make-work aspect, something Frankenstein himself would have told Jekyll was perfect for getting extra investment money.
Victor: What you have to do, dear boy, is take the largest piece of equipment you have and move it to the front of the lab, then start running electricity through it until it starts to smoke and spark. Sparks are very important! Jekyll: But Baron, I don't understand. How can that possibly-- Victor: No, no, Henry, listen to me--the point is, people are STUPID. I mean, everything I do is 99.9% surgery, yes? But that's not enough, for some idiots. 'Where's the lightning?" "I heard there was going to be lightning!" So you give the cheap seats what they want, and watch the money pour in. Jekyll: And that works? Victor: Always. Well...sometimes. Actually, almost never. But there's no point in not trying!
