Sovay posted the other day about chronological and geographical differences in comedy styles (short version - there was once a time when American comedy was considered both faster-paced and more sophisticated than British). This led indirectly to me looking up Stan Laurel, trying to confirm something I dimly recalled about him and editing. Didn't find it, but I did find this website of letters he wrote. The bulk are from the last few years of his life, and are polite answers to all his fanmail, but there are a few interesting bits.
