Had a dream that Neil Gaiman had decided that for the next little while, he was only going to write stories about RAF pilots – and these weren’t supernatural or AU, and while clearly inspired by Capt. W. E. Johns they were more in the way of sincere tribute rather than parody (even affectionate parody). They were just completely straightforward kid/YA-friendly adventure stories about flying.

He’d also started a campaign to encourage other writers to try their hand at this sort of thing – he called it “category fiction” as opposed to “genre” – stories in which things don’t always have to be about other things.

I think he may have had to start his own publishing house, because his regular publishers were too confused by the concept.

Also there was this cabinet that unfolded into a little bookshop within the main store.
