I seem to be accumulating an assortment of thermoses and water-bottles - each attractive, functional, and totally useless for drinking coffee at my workplace.

See, we can't have open beverages at work (too many electronics about) - so I got a container with a neat little sippy-cup top; except it's non-insulated and for cold drinks only (just try carrying hot stuff in a steel bottle - ow). Then I dug a travel mug out of my cupboard. It's insulated, but the top has to come off completely for me to drink from it. On the weekend I got a thermos with KEEP CALM AND CARRY ON on the side. I checked to see that it had a pop-top lid, but this morning I discovered that it's for pouring liquid only - if I try to drink directly from it, I get coffee splashed in my face, which is not a good look for me.

I've even tried switching the tops, but the bottle necks are different diameters.

The quest continues...

My husband flat out refuses them. Won't even attempt one. Luckily, I work at home...so I can use a mug. I feel for you peoples!

I also saw a ceramic one with a silicone sippy-cup top but it didn't seem practical.

Have two of those...not so great with hot, but okay with cold. The issue really seems to be drinking hot liquid out of the sippy style lid.

New plan - put a sock on the water-bottle with the sippy lid. Am now heating water to put in it. If it's bearable to hold, will eventually knit proper bottle-cozy.

What *is* the plural of "thermos," anyway?

ETA - a quick web search suggests "thermoses" is correct. It looks weird, though; like it should be the name of a pharaoh or something.

They gave everyone a cup....thing...when I worked at Nextel/Teletech. It has no handle...I never even tried to use it as I don't drink coffee anyway, and woulda been using an unfamiliar slippery metal cup inches from above a keyboard.
