First day at the warehouse seemed to go ok, except I may have got into a minor disagreement over Patton's role in the North African campaign.

Stage lights - one of the workers had been telling some colleagues about WWII (among other things) and was trying to remember the name of the main Allied general fighting Rommel - he meant Montgomery, but I maintain that Patton was also a correct answer (he thought Patton was in the South Pacific, but I think he meant MacArthur.)

Historically accurate tidbits are, after all, very important. Vitally, even ^_^

I actually knew it was Patton because green_trilobite likes the movie with George C. Scott:

"Rommel, you magnificent bastard! I READ YOUR BOOK!!"

It's terrible how many facts I only know because of Simpsons references, Star Trek episodes, etc...

I first read "Ozymandias" in a reprint of an Avengers comic.

In grade 8 I was the only one to come up with Mark Twain's birth name, 'cos of that Next Generation episode involving Twain. Lol. I didn't have the heart to tell Mr. Hunter that, though. I just let him think I was clever.

I was on my high school's "Reach for Top" trivia team (we were only actually on TV for one year, then the station that carried the show in the Maritimes dropped it for The Old Time Gospel Hour). anyway, we used to practice by watching tapes of old episodes. Turns out, they reuse their scripts every few years, They re-use them *exactly.* We went to the taping and after the first few minutes I thought "why do these questions sound so familiar?" They were the exact questions from the several-years old show we'd watched the day before. I felt a bit guilty, but we hadn't cheated on purpose.

Wow. Lol. That's pretty lazy of them...though I guess what are the odds that anyone would actually watch it, to notice?

We've been watching Stagecoach this evening - just noticed in the credits that Luke Plummer (the guy at the end that John Wayne shoots) wasn't just a guy who looked/sounded like Tom Tyler (Captain Marvel, the Mummy) - it actually *was* Tom Tyler. Good spotting, green_trilobite!

Usually when I spot someone familiar I have to imagine run them through a list of species to figure out why....are they usually Bajoran? Cardassian? Andorian? Jem'Hadar?

I have the original of that if it's the one that ends with the kid kicking Ultron's head down the street.

Yay, job, and I hope it does well for you, other than the historical figure disagreement in the warehouse part.

Did the steel-toed boots help?

Well, nothing's been dropped on my feet yet. They're ok, but i'm still getting used to walking in them - they're about an inch longer than my actual feet. I fell like Little Tich. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DpoGy_WIcCY)
