Deadwood fic query

Question for fragrantwoods and zagzagael: I'm considering throwing a spanner into the S4 works, namely, a bit of a mystery arc - a few months back I wrote an opening chapter in which Dolly has been poisoned by a Gem customer messing about with spanish fly - she pulls through, but a number of people would like to find the responsible party so they can kill him. I never followed it up, but now I'm wondering if it could become a plot point, especially if Doc has to bring Janine into the Gem to help out (not that anyone but dan would likely know her there.)

Thoughts?

OOOOOOOH!!!!!!!!!!!! I like this, I like this alot! And it works really well with our respective chara-loves. I could see Bullock dismissing the joke sheriff and getting involved, I could see Al torn between his on-off-again thing with Dolly...and I could see Doc learning empathy (he already has boatloads) about the profession from Janine...and one can only hope where that will lead...

Ooh...I remember this, and that I loved it for the recognition of Doc for Al's way of showing concern. Yes, I think this would be no spanner at all, but a nice tweaking.

Dolly is rather shunted aside, except for the occasional bj then back to the girls...so many new people in town, so ample opportunity to bring in an OC for a villain (or one of the old standbys: just saying, place is a hive of activity now).

Would Al and Bullock have to (gasp) work together on this, as well? Would Alma, with her den-motherish fondness for the girls put her resources behind finding the culprit?

Selfish hussy that I am, I am envisioning a sidebar of Al trying to explain to Alma that of course Dolly continues to see to his needs (I actually can see Alma being sort of okay with it, but Bullock being totally outraged on her behalf). And Doc/Jewel, plus Janine finding her place in Doc-world...

If a responsible pimp doesn't allow Spanish fly, I wonder what irresponsible jackass pimps feel about it...

The only thing that worries me is whether Doc can justify bringing Janine along, with so many other potential helpers in the place – I suppose I can say they haven’t got any other patients at the moment, and he can argue that she’s going to have to venture into town sooner or later, and that if she and Dan want to start seeing each other openly, they’d better “meet.”

This may take a few days - I have to write and draw my cartoon for this week.

But who better than Doc to pull a "fuck you, Al!" and "Let me be the goddamn doctor!"? I mean, folk question Doc's decisions at their own risk, yes? Except maybe Jewel, who can get away with murder, when it comes to Doc...

No, it's Janine who I figure would be nervous, having to pass so close by Cy's establishment. But I guess that'll just require a "physician heal thyself" chat with Doc about facing one's fears...

Just to toss in my two cents, one of the things I enjoyed about Deadwood was how many things were going on at once, so from that viewpoint, the more the better.
Greedily wanting Moar Doc has absolutely nothing to do with it, I swear.
