I don't know if I've burned through all my sick days yet; but on the advice of my supervisor when I called in this morning to say the sore throat hadn't left me alone yet, I went back to the walk-in clinic, where a different doctor saw me and agreed that even though I'd tested negative for strep on Thursday, I definitely still have an inflamed throat, and wrote me a prescription. We shall see.

I'd brought green_trilobite along, and hadn't made us breakfast, so afterwards we went to the first place he spotted; unfortunately this turned out to be the sort of bar & grill that is first and foremost a bar, and only has the grill so they can justify being open before noon. They seemed a bit shaken when we asked for menus instead of beer.

Bars baffle me. I don't drink, never have...so it's a totally foreign environment that reeks of unfamiliar vices in underwater light where strange men who don't benefit near enough from the gloom hit on you while you're innocently trying to order fried pickles.

I believe this bar catered to the neighbourhood's retirees and/or alcoholics, along with whoever else might want a beer at 11:30 am on a weekday. Two guys at the bar were discussing the possibility that they were the only people left in the world and everyone else was a figment of their imaginations. Solipsism a deux?

Yes, antibiotics. On the up side, the pharmacist was very diligent about asking what else I was taking and if I was allergic to penicillin.

No, but if they were imagining the other regulars at the bar, it would explain much.

I don't think they could have imagined a woman in a bright orange wool coat and a man in a black coat and a deerstalker.

It'd be kinda like a brief period in DS9's second season where a bunch of the background aliens all wore weird hats. ^_^
