Liz Sladen has died. By the time I heard, the comments had progressed from "oh no, I hope this is just a vicious prank," to obits. I find it heartwarming that a lot of the eulogies come from people who worked as production assistants or convention security - apparently she really was lovely and professional.

I read it at the BBC. :(
I don't know much (well...any) vintage Who, but it was still sad.

The character had also come back, and had finally got her own spinoff show - they were half-way through filming Series 5.

Oh, I had no idea that her spinoff was still on air at all. :(

Last night we watched the DVD of Planet of Evil, with the voice-over commentary on -- Liz Sladen, Tom Baker, and Philip Hinchcliffe. As often happens with recordings of the recently-deceased, I found myself half-thinking, "wait, how can she be dead when she's there happily chatting away with her fellow actors?"

(Tardis lands)
Liz: Of course the wonderful thing about this concept was that we could just arrive in any setting.
Tom: I always though we should have done one in a Marks & Spencers.
