Toronto's best-known Neo-nazi was shot in the head the other day, by one of his friends. They're saying it was probably not political, but something to do with his personal life.

I'm sort of glad I don't have to think "oh no, someone stooped to his level." Also, it's harder for his side to make a martyr out of him.

On the street yesterday I passed these two guys looking at a Sun newspaper box, one of them saying "Hey Neo-Nazi shot! Cool!"

Argh.

When I first heard the news what hit me hardest was that a)another person was killed in Toronto, ugh and b) and it happened in Scarborough, not too far away from me. But yeah, I hope it retains those angles, as opposed to anything that could be construed as a martyr's death.

This guy has been nothing but a drug dealer for about 5 years now so I doubt that there's any martyr potential except amongst the die-hard conspiracy theory guys - who would say that no matter what the reality was. He was almost certainly whacked by some Trailer Park Boys types and not through anything political.

I'm basing this on the (somewhat surprisingly large, come to think of it but then all evil things gravitate towards me...) body of second hand knowledge that I have about dear old Wolfie. I've spoken to someone who used to very active in the anti-neo-nazi-racist movement here in Toronto and who used to get a lot of death threats on her answering machine from the CSIS "informant" that used to bankroll the Heritage Front. I used to know someone who was a member of the HF and then became apostate in the course of being interviewed for a documentary film on their recruiting efforts at Queen's University. I also used to know his Ex: who is a very annoying person who "found Jesus" in a jail cell in that little island that some of his friends tried to take over about 11 years ago. I've also read a friend's copy of his great little paperback about the secret world at the South Pole with this huge cavern entrance for the flying saucers to come out of: Ultima Thule don't you know!*

This is not to say that the Nazi movement isn't alive and well in Ontario. If you talk to anyone trying to run a fringe political party here you'll hear about how there's always a huge problem trying to keep small town Ontario Nazis from flooding the meetings and taking over.
