1. Have been looking at some of the meta-fandom discussion of hurt/comfort fic and to what extent it's insulting to real disabled people, and worrying because I've got a bit of an h/c plot coming up a few weeks from now in Personal Information, although since it's more a case of temporary physical injuries (though probably with psychological trauma that is more long-term) I may be over-thinking this.
2. Meanwhile, Invulnerable (part ii of Supervillain) may be slowly cranking into movement again, largely because I realized a character who'd been taking shape in my head over the last month or so can fit into it. Of course now that I've decided that, he's being all uncooperative and just wants to fast-forward several years to when he's settled down and raising a kid. He's also never had a real name*, so finding him one may be the key. Am rummaging through Manly Wade Wellman in search of a suitable name for a grumpily charming veteran/recovering hillbilly/designer of prosthetic limbs who's also a member of the club. Yeah, there are likely to be disability issues with this character, but probably no h/c (unless he's the one doing the c). I don't even know how much of this is likely to make it into the actual story, but a lot of the Invulnerable characters seem to have elaborate backstories of this nature - my main problem has been too many interesting characters, not enough plot - note to self - re-read my notes so I can remember exactly what the plot is. Meanwhile, possible first and last names to steal and recombine:
Hm.
*Although as of last Thursday, his nickname is "Tin Man." Not his superhero name, because he has no secret identity and generally has a bit of a chip on his shoulder as regards superheroes, because they keep trying to recruit him away from doing medical research to help average people. He hasn't yet figured out he's dating one. Or maybe he has, and is waiting for her to come out to him. I don't know yet.
