1. For some reason, I can’t get into LJ on my home connection anymore. I can get into it through work, and other people I’ve talked to seem to be able to get it on their computers. I don’t know if LJ doesn’t like our particular browser, or what.
2. Weird weekend. Friday night I broke my glasses, so much of Saturday was spent getting (sparkly!) new ones while I ran around getting ready for the belly-dance student recital that I thought was that night. Dragged green_trilobite to Innis Town Hall where the Subtle Technologies Symposium was just clearing out and there were no dancers in evidence. Left him there in case they showed up while I started towards the studio in hopes of finding a flyer with the correct date/time/location. After a few blocks my phone rang.
“It’s ok, they’re here.” I hurried back and found him sitting with several people, none of whom I recognized, except one guy who seemed familiar, because (as I later realized) he runs Dragon Lady Comics.
Me: “Uh, this is the belly dance recital, right?
Them: Oh. We thought he was being sarcastic.
Me: So this isn’t the recital.
Them: No, this is the Shuster Awards.
green_trilobite: Well, that explains the people handing out flyers outside that say “Boycott the Shuster Awards.”
We stayed for the Shuster Awards.
3. Saw the Van Gogh episode of Dr Who yesterday on the internet. Teared up a bit. The only thing I could have done with was (spoiler)
An explanation as to why Van Gogh alone can see the invisible monster. Since the story was pretty realistic in depicting his illness, I like to think that, as with his art, his ability to see the creature had nothing to do with being crazy and everything to do with his intensive study of colour – that he could see past its camouflage or something.

So, when is the recital? Although you can probably, as the B-52s say, "do all 16 dances" I don't think I've ever seen you do any unless it was at Jason's wedding.
