One of my co-workers has been promising to bring cheesecake for the last few weeks and today he has apparently made good on it; at the same time the forecast for warm weather this weekend has made a bunch of my other co-workers resolve to start their look-good-for-summer diets. I’m trying to stay out of all weight-related discussions while feeling like a bit of a hypocrite, since I have put on about four pounds sometime in the last six months and feel a bit bemused by it – on the one hand, it’s probably an improvement; on the other, I don’t think I’ve been doing anything different and I hate to think my body’s going to start playing tricks on me – up till now I’ve always left it to its own devices and it’s worked pretty well; I’ve been quite spoiled, actually.
Anyway I guess I am on schedule to start going “arrgh, I’m old,” but usually it’s my co-workers that do that to me by saying they’d always thought Super Mario Bros was the first video game, or by never having heard of the Monty Python spam song.
ETA – and then they always say ‘oh you couldn’t possibly be old enough to remember that,” while I enjoyed the amused frisson that vampires, timelords, etc presumably get when reminiscing about History in front of the humans ; )
