So as some of you know, green_trilobite’s balance has been worse than usual of late, and last Saturday he started complaining of double vision, so Sunday morning I put my foot down and took him to emergency – note to any Americans reading this – if a fortysomething patient gets brought in with these symptoms there’s no waiting; thank you Canadian healthcare system. OTOH, the looked-rather-amusingly-like-a-tv-doctor resident couldn’t actually find anything on the tox screen or the ct scan, so we’re left with the knowledge that it’s probably nothing serious, we’re just not sure what. Will try lowering meds slightly.
In other news, watched Edward G. Robinson in The Red House, which was pretty atmospheric and probably deserves a remake, although they might need to add a few more plot twists for a modern audience

Date: 2009-09-28 12:50 pm (UTC)From:Yeah, The Red House--if I'm thinking of the right film--is an interesting little fairytale, similar in tone to things like Curse of the Cat People (which isn't really about monsters, so much, as loneliness and the failure to adjust to societal standards of "normalcy"), The Reflecting Skin or even Night of the Hunter. You don't see a lot of those anymore, maybe because there are so many horrible things your neighbors might actually be guilty of at any given time that the whole "child misconstrues cues due to imagination/need" is a trope which has fallen by the wayside. Or that kids and adults are now only supposed to ever interact with each other inside of really restricted parameters, anyhow.
