handful_ofdust was circulating the “five movies to watch if you want to understand me” meme, and we’ve now segued to “five novels to read if you want to understand me.” This one’s trickier – some of the novels that influenced me have sort of become touchstones for subcultures I don’t belong to, so naming them is more likely to make people *misunderstand* me. Posting here because I need more room to manoeuvre.

Haven’t even watched Babylon Berlin

but on the strength of this trailer I’ve begun checking AO3 for fics. As of today, still none. Maybe they’re all in German. https://youtu.be/uekZpkYf7-E

My hope is that someone will write a crossover with M or Testament of Dr. Mabuse, but Inspector Lohmann already has his hands so full, I’m unsure if he could deal with any more borderline-supernatural conspiracies or twisted murderers. Plus he’s an honest police inspector, so some faction would probably assassinate him, though if that happened, he might discover his death rated Valkyries *and* a car. He might even finally get an evening off work.
