Q: If you could be a mythological monster, like a zombie, vampire, whatever, what kind would you be?
A: Not a zombie, because I find them rather dull, that's sort of the point -- I mean, no one ever says "O look, what an interesting zombie." I wouldn't be a vampire, because I'd be worried about my hair all the time, not being able to check it in a mirror. I think I'd like to be one of those people with snakes for hair, because you'd always have company. And you turn people to stone, so you'd never be short of decorative statuary.

(Many questions later)

Q: What can a person do to not be lonely?
A: Have snakes for hair. Then you can talk to the snakes. Failing that, I suppose you could try talking to other people.

Finished the floral dress. Picked up a scrap of stripey purple jersey while I was downtown buying notions, and a couple of extra-large pillowcases in a beautiful print at the thrift store, and ran up a quick-and-dirty oversized T-shirt, and a spiral-seamed sundress based on a diagram I dimly recalled from a 1970s sewing book. I have a peasant blouse in progress.

I'm not sure how but I appear to have agreed to give Carter, my older cat, a food and water station in our bathroom. I'm not sure why he wants this (perhaps Narly was annoying him in the kitchen), but it seems to make him happy. He's also got a snazzy new collar with a floral print, also picked up on yesterday's shopping trip.

Saw Neil Gaiman last night as mentioned in the previous post. Tomorrow we will be meeting Don and Janet for lunch at the Sunniside Cafe. I've been trying to not let us eat out too much this week for budget reasons, but the Sunniside patio is a favourite and we haven't been there yet this summer.
