Day one - only went to one Friday event, namely the "steampunk a hat" one, which, with only two audience members and lots of supplies, turned into the make-a-hat *workshop* (I eschewed the hats and just made a fascinator out of the garnishes).

Haven't deployed the apple pie yet, decided to save it for tonight as other drinks were being served at the Friday night parties. It's nice to go to a party in a hotel where you have a room. You can stay up late, knowing that your bed is just down the hall; mind you if it's only just down the hall, you may have to learn to sleep through the sound of the party still going on...

ETA - the hospitality suite has an "attack of the bacon memes" theme going on.

Trilobite Triumph

Trilobite show-and-tell went great - details to follow.

ETA - slide show went off with no hitches to speak of, room was filled even though it was 10 am, questioned were asked and answered, everyone was very interested in the


5:26 pm -- Guy just came up the stairwell screaming "Please don't kill me!" I thought at first it was some kind of interactive convention theatre, but he seems to have been someone in the throes of a genuine psychotic episode who wandered into the convention hotel (which is in a somewhat sketchy neighborhood.)

Apple pie went over well, as did my steampunk costume (pix when I get copies.) handful_ofdust wasn't here, but talked to kelpqueen a bit, and tried sketching a few of the Hexslinger characters (pix when I scan'em.)
