-Hey, it's really hot - can we open the window?
(me, other passengers) -Yeah, ok etc.
-I'm overheated, but you see all these other people wearing jackets.
-Canadians these days are wimps. Not only can't they take winter anymore, they can't take spring or fall.
-The buses used to have individual windows for each person to slide open, but now they've redesigned them so you have to ask everyone else.
-Last week when it was so hot I wish the bus could have turned on the air conditioning, but it didn't.
-TTC stands for "Take The Car.". They make 12 million a year, but I hear all the complaints that come in from riders just get sent to their marketing department. And then we have to see those posters about how it's illegal to assault the drivers.
-They have those screens too.
-Yeah.
-I could punch right through those.
-But you never hear the other side of the story. Some drivers are really abusive. Two wrongs don't make a right.
-Yeah, like this one time last Hallowe'en I was on the night bus and the driver was being so rude to everyone.
-If you can't stand to work with people, maybe you're in the wrong job.
-I couldn't work in an office, with some guy looking over my shoulder all the time. That's why I'm learning a trade. So I can be my own boss. Write my own checks.
-Yeah. And that's where the future is. Everything may be computerized, but someone's got to fix the computers.
-I don't know, it's hard to know what the future's going to be like.
-Well, the infrastructure will be the same, but everything will be all silvery and... futuristic.
-See I don't like that chrome stuff. It's too Jetsons. Have you noticed that silver is a really popular colour for cars lately?
-Yeah. Also white.
-I don't mind the white, but I don't like the silver. All the gangstas hustlin' chrome.
-So, what trade are you going into?
-Biochemistry.
