My friend Don offered troops (of what gender and orientation I'm not sure, but he gets along platonically with just about everyone); but by then green_trilobite and I had escaped. We actually quite liked Hamilton herself; she didn't read any of her work so I don't know if I'd like it. It was the fans en masse - they reminded me of junior high, when all the other girls discovered sex and couldn't stop the hell giggling about it.
