If you hadn't heard, Christopher Reeve died over the weekend. I'm not as big a fan of the movie as the BiPolarBear, but Reeve was a cool guy (the test footage for the flying effects, included on the Superman DVD, show just how much of their believability was due to Reeve - the stand-in in the test just dangles unconvincingly). Reeve basically died of an infection from a bedsore, which shows how shockingly frail even the most determined human is when immobilized - they were saying on CNN this morning that stem-cell research will now be an election issue for sure, and perhaps he would have considered this a fair trade-off.
