I'm of two minds about seeing Idiocracy - the premise people in the future being dumbed-down because stupid people breed faster strikes me as having a creepy eugenics subtext, although it sounds as though the film also blames a culture where being smart gets you called "fag" and beaten up, which strikes me as a bigger RL problem*.
Meanwhile, green_trilobite and I went to Hollywoodland which is excellent, though depressing as hell. Like most films about LA, it uncovers what a bleak factory town the place is (there's a sad, sad, moment towards the end where you see the characters are all links in a chain of people picking up lovers/spouses who can make them feel young again and telling them, "don't worry, I'll take care of you.") Ben Affleck was quite uncanny when channeling Reeves when on-the-clock.
*Although, thinking about this issue, I've started to suspect Jackass is secretly a plot to strengthen the gene pool by encouraging dumb people get themselves killed.
